Mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary is coming up in several months and a few days ago my brother contacted me to ask what I thought about giving mom a pair of diamond earrings for their anniversary. I thought it was a great idea, but he couldn’t help but laugh when I commented that I didn’t think dad would look good wearing the diamond earrings. He said that he’d been looking for something for dad and at this point was thinking about some new fishing equipment but he wanted to run everything by me. I figured what he really wanted was to ask me if I would look for the diamond earrings, since I’m known in the family as the one who can find the best deals. We talked for a while and surprisingly he asked if he could come over this weekend sometime and that we could both sit down at the computer together and look for diamond earrings and something for dad. I agreed and said I didn’t have anything going on Saturday. Since it’s an hour drive for him, I invited him to stay for dinner as well, and he accepted.
